The
Healthy Families/Futures project of One Great River engages parents of late elementary and early middle school children
in researched-based, educational programs to promote healthy behaviors. One
Great River has adopted the researched-based Families That Care: Guiding Good Choices educational program developed
by Dr. David Hawkins and Dr. Richard Catalano of the University of Washington. The curriculum is owned and published
by Channing-Bete Company Inc., all rights reserved. Parents participate in a 5-session workshop series to learn how to: Strengthen Family Bonds Develop Healthy Beliefs and Clear Standards Manage Parent/Child Conflicts Help Teens to Avoid Health
and Behavior Problems Guiding
Good Choices is provided at Schools, Community and Faith-based organizations by trained One Great River Workshop Facilitators.
One Great River is also certified by Channing Bete Company to conduct Guiding Good Choices Workshop Leader Training.
